I actually kinda wish that Guardian Hammer played like the Scrapper. There's really only one rather nasty part which involves the Oakheart Essence and if you mess up you have to go back to the last checkpoint. If you follow a guide and have the handy Prototype Position Rewinder it's not too bad. There's still Searing Ascent which is annoying, but not as bad. There are guides and such, but there's usually several Mesmers & Thieves hanging around that love nothing better than portaling people through it. Ranger needs a rework on how pets work (maybe something like each minor adept skill in each spec except Soulbeast modify the pet as noticable as the traits Mechanist gets to "customize" the golem or so, would be a good start, buuuut now's not the time for "How Ark repairs GW2" ideas ).Ĭhalice of Tears is well named. That's not a problem of Untamed and I think not a problem Untamed can solve on its own. Imo the Untamed is at best a sidegrade to the basegame ranger and I'm really sad that engineer now has a much better pet than the official pet-class. The unleashed ranger gets almost no bonusses for being unleashed and is pretty strongly forced into using hammer. The new unleashed skills for the pets don't get any bonusses from the beastmastery trait line because they don't count as "beast" skills and flavourwise aren't really pet-skills, so it's turning the unleashed pet basically into a weakly auto-attacking focus for the Untameds plant magic (the pet doesn't even use its normal skills any more). As Morty said, it relies strongly on using active skills on disabled target, which (besides the boss-problem) aren't so easy to come by: half of the rangers weapons don't disable and MOST of the rangers pets don't disable - and the disables which do exist are often "moving disables" (fear, knockback, pull) for which comboing them with disable-exploiter effects with a relatively low range is pretty difficult. I get what the devs wanted the elite to be fluff-wise and I like that idea, but I think they totally botched the execution (I haven't played the 2nd beta but from what I read, it seems Catalyst might be the same problem). The gaming experience, I mean, not the actual way you do stuff. In fact, it feels to me very similar to druid. But it has a problem that it's aggressively supportive and GW2 was from the start touted as the MMO without the holy trinity, so it feels somewhat strange to play a dedicated healer-role (actually: the elite seemed to actively fight me when trying to turn it into a normal PvE roamer allrounder) when the game normally doesn't something like that and really does not have proper healer-supporting UI. And maybe increase the range of mace-2s gap closer from 410 to 600 like most others. I think the only really missing thing is an "explosion" tag on mace-3. The golem is awesome and besides some spots on which numbers could a little bit higher, the whole elite works very well together. Mechanist is good and I (99% PvE-player) really enjoyed it while trying it out.
